Current Season & Events
The Department, in conjunction with the Robsham Theater Arts Center, produces an annual season of six plays, four mainstage shows directed by faculty or a distinguished guest and two "workshop" productions directed by students. Each season is planned to provide students with a variety of creative opportunities and theatrical challenges.

Synopsis
Caryl Churchill鈥檚 Top Girls begins with a dazzling dinner party for an eclectic array of historical and mythical 鈥渢op girls,鈥 including a Japanese courtesan turned Buddhist nun, Pope Joan, and Dull Gret, a 16th Century woman who battles the devil. After this brilliant opening, the play explores the choices modern women face in the workforce, culminating in a blistering and timely argument between two sisters over the politics of the right vs. left. Written during England鈥檚 Thatcher administration, Top Girls is consistently voted as one of the best plays of the 20th Century.

Synopsis
Perhaps the most beloved of Christmas time stories, please join us for a magical retelling of the Charles Dickens' classic, adapted for the stage!听 On one Christmas Eve in Victorian London, miserly and humorless Ebeneezer Scrooge is visited by the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Christmas Present and Christmas Yet to Come to push him to change his ways. The three spirits require Scrooge to reflect on memories from his past, take stock of difficult realities of his present, and consider his grim future should he continue his closed-hearted ways. This production is brimming with Christmas Spirit, and includes live music, dance, and much cheer!

Synopsis
The Old Man has kept his post as the person refilling the moon to keep it round for as long as he can remember, and this task has become all-encompassing. When his wife is drawn away by a mysterious melody and a desire for excitement he can't understand, the Old Man must decide between duty (and routine) and love (and adventure). This ingenious musical is an imaginative sea-faring epic, encompassing storms, civil wars, sea monsters, and cantankerous ghosts, and the Old Man鈥檚 highest hurdle of all: changing his perspective.

In Eurydice, Sarah Ruhl reimagines the classic myth of Orpheus through the eyes of its heroine. With contemporary characters, ingenious plot twists, and beautiful visual effects, the play is a fresh look at a timeless love story.
