Indonesia is an economic powerhouse that is often overlooked in discussions about economic influence and environmental, social, and governance (ESG) impact. Indonesia's gross domestic product (GDP) in 2021 was $1.19 trillion, making it the 16th largest economy in the world. Given these risks and the breadth of the country鈥檚 economic impact, sustainable practices are a priority for companies that are operate within, have significant economic shares, or are headquartered in Indonesia.
